Slot Insists He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's expected for questions to be raised about his future after a further convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in twelve matches, representing the club's poorest streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received a lot of support from above,” Slot stated.

“It's important to turn it around and secure a win obviously but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over known failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a spell like this with outcomes so bad.”

He concluded, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we will always battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
