Your Perfect Pocket Monster Tales: Z-A Super Form Based on the Astrological Sign
This return of Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A has ignited immense enthusiasm across the fandom. From the gradual unveiling of newcomers ahead of the game's release, to trainers developing strong opinions on the entire lineup of Mega Evolutions, there's a lot for fans to anticipate.
With many of the Mega Evolutions showcasing unique appearances that highlight their personalities, one idea came to mind: What's the best way to link this with zodiac signs? The following is inspired by a mix of intuition, sign stereotypes, and personal experience.
Aries – Super Camerupt
Honestly, Houndoom was nearly selected for this fire sign, as they are the Super Form and astrological sign that evoke the greatest apprehension. However, a Super Houndoom comes across as always furious, which doesn't match the Aries vibe, renowned for being fun, light-hearted, and impulsive. This makes the Ram much more akin to Mega Camerupt, which solely erupts when provoked. Remain on the friendly side of either and enjoy a strong ally; should you offend them, be ready to face the consequences.
Taurus – Mega Heracross
Much like a loyal Bull, the steadfast Heracross, both in its regular and Mega form, has aided many trainers in Legends: Z-A. While dependable, each the Pokémon and a Taurus are still battle-oriented, and – be it their trainer or a firm belief – will stand up for their position unwaveringly. The thing about Mega Heracross that recalls most of my Taurus friends, however, is its unabashed love of snacks. Many previous Pokédex entries mention their fondness for tasty sap and how it uses its appendage to collect it everything, which is true Bull-sign vibe.
Gemini – Mega Medicham
Observe this total queen. You cannot convince me this creature is not the life of any gathering, providing an endless stream of gossip to anyone who wish to listen. Much like an enrapturing, sociable Twins, it's very easy to envision Mega Medicham mesmerizing an entire Wild Zone with their tales. Medicham’s official description also states its ability to predict an opponent's next moves, which sounds very like a people-smart Gemini.
Cancer – Mega Manectric
The Crab is commonly regarded as the most emotional member of the astrological wheel, a passionate sign known for frequently getting wrapped up in their emotions. According to the Pokédex, Super Evolution fills the Pokémon with a “tremendous quantity of energy, but it's excessive for this Pokémon to completely manage,” which sounds a lot like a typical Cancer crash-out. This Pokémon is also recognized for its capability to make a thundercloud over its very self – and if there’s a single trait a Crab is likely to do, it’s spoil their good time.
The Lion – Super Starmie
Well, did you think I was planning to select the lion Pokémon for the lion of the zodiac? Besides the reality that it would be far too on the nose, The Lion is clearly Mega Starmie, the star whose gams just became an internet sensation for being too fabulous (or horrifying, based on your taste). Fans were captivated from the violet sea star, and that’s precisely the same vibe a Leo brings to the table. Starmie is also rumored to be transmitting signals from its center out into space, and it’s typical of a Leo to be staging a show, even if for extraterrestrials.
The Maiden – Super Victreebel
The ever-prepared and constantly-worried Virgo is perfectly encapsulated in Super Victreebel, the Super Form with constant digestive issues. The zodiac symbol known for being endearingly judgmental is strongly reflected across this Pokémon’s entire lineage, from a always surprised expression like a Virgo when you tell them you lack a 401(k), to its upside-down face that’s similar to the emoji a Maiden sends to the group chat when all says they want to “be spontaneous” instead of creating a strategy.
The Scales – Mega Audino
Observe this gentle, sensitive being, who uses the feelers on its auditory organs to tell how others are emotionally by their pulse. Always empathetic – occasionally to a detriment – and trying to maintain the harmony, there are numerous Libras who would likely benefit from Super Audino's skills. However, let’s be honest, it would probably just make them worry even more about others.
Scorpio – Super Banette
This Ghost-type is a creature with a surprisingly tragic backstory: Abandoned as a toy, it gained sentient through pure hatred and vowed retribution on its previous caretaker. Per the Pokédex, Super Evolution, “enhances its spitefulness.” That sounds exactly like many conversations I’ve had with my scary Scorpion acquaintances. A Scorpion loves karma and comeuppance, making them the perfect pair with Super Banette.
Sagittarius – Super Hawlucha
Both Super Hawlucha and Sagittarians are constantly putting on a performance. Being a Archer myself, the amount of times I’ve called myself some variation of a “silly little jester” is innumerable. The most flamboyant and most attention-seeking Mega Evolution, its Pokédex entry even mentions how it “poses to show off its power.” I would do the exact same thing if I had a Super Form, making Super Hawlucha the most apt Sagittarius match I can think of.
The Goat – Mega Absol
Did you know that a Super Absol has the ability to foresee calamities in advance? That exudes the identical energy as a Goat, who tends to always think they’re correct. Interestingly, much like a visionary Mega Absol, they frequently are. It’s also the very first Super Form that trainers meet in Legends: Z-A – just like a Goat to get in on the beginning of the Mega trend.
The Water Bearer – Mega Chandelure
Detached air sign Aquarius is arguably the non-fire sign that is closest to a flame symbol – its counterpart is the Lion, and there are countless memes about Sagittarius and Aquarius being chaotic accomplices. Super Chandelure's dual Spirit/Flame typing fits seamlessly with this, and the Mega’s overall daunting aura is also very Aquarius. If you weren’t already persuaded, the Super Form's description says it “absorbs hatred and converts it into strength.” If that fails to exactly {encaps
